The Aegis School Excellence Index rates every public school on a 1 to 10 scale using official California Department of Education data. No racial or ethnic data is used, displayed, or referenced anywhere in the system.
Each school is evaluated on up to five weighted components. Elementary and middle schools use four components (no college readiness). High schools use all five. The raw composite score maps to a 1 to 10 rating using percentile-based thresholds calibrated against all schools in the dataset.
Data sources include CAASPP test results, chronic absenteeism rates, suspension rates, graduation rates, UC/CSU A-G course completion, college-going rates, and CDE growth model data.
